The distribution of participants in the study from the three different industry sectors is balanced, as 31.6 per cent are automotive suppliers, 35.1 per cent are machinery and plant engineers and 33.3 per cent are industry component manufacturers.
In total, 57 companies participated in the study, which was conducted via expert interviews. According to their size, the companies were divided into four categories: up to 250 million euro, up to 500 million euro, up to 1,000 million euro and more than 1.000 million euro. More than half of the companies (58.9 per cent) generate revenues of 500 million euro or more. Of these, 37.5 per cent generate revenues of more than 1,000 million euro. Therefore, the majority of the participants are large medium sized enterprises and major enterprises. Companies from the machinery and plant engineering industry generally have smaller revenues (55 per cent of the companies from the machinery and plant engineering sector generate revenues of more than 500 million euro). On the contrary, industry component manufacturers generally generate larger revenues: 63.1 per cent of these companies have revenues of at least 500 million euro.
GEXSO also classified the participating companies according to their number of employees: up to 1,000, up to 5,000, up to 10,000 and more than 10,000 employees. Companies from all categories participated in the survey. However, the majority of participating companies were large enterprises according to their number of employees. 45.6 per cent of the participants have more than 5,000 employees. Approximately a third of the participating companies employ 1,000 to 5,000 people.
